BJP government will fall after June 1 voting, claims Abhishek Banerjee
In response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Ankur Sharma, the division bench of High Court Chief Justice T S Shivanganam and Justice Hiranmoy Bhattacharya has ordered the reopening of Howrah's Dumurjala Indoor Stadium within six months. The stadium, which has remained closed for an extended period, allegedly under the guise of renovation, prompted Sharma's PIL. The court noted the presented photographs depicting tricycles parked within the premises, dustbins scattered, and overall neglect, leading the Chief Justice to comment that the stadium was not intended for such use.
During the hearing, Howrah Municipal Corporation's advocate stated that the repair work would require a six-month timeframe for completion. In response, the Chief Justice emphasized the urgency of reopening the stadium for public use and directed that the repair work be expedited to meet the stipulated six-month deadline.
